This is a reproduction of a walnut Philadelphia armchair that is described in Albert Sack's book Fine Points of Furniture.   This chair differs only in that it has ball and claw feet and a bell flower below the knee shells.   This is the classic Queen Anne design with the characteristic "bird's beak" as the negative space in the back.   The original dates from 1750 - 1770.
