Custom Designed Demilune Cabinet

This cabinet is one of a pair that I designed for a customer. It is a semi-elliptical shape with four curved raised panel sections. The two middle sections are curved doors. The cabinet is frame and panel construction. I laid out the elliptical shape full scale and then carefully sectioned up the shape into equal pieces and took the angles off the drawing. This gave me a polygonal approximation which was then rounded to an ellipse. It was critical to the success of construction that the angles matched closely or the pieces would not have been able to be shaped into an ellipse.

These cabinets far exceeded the customer's expectations. Here is some of how they were described:
